While there is no one-size-fits-all answer of when to introduce children to robotics, it’s great to start kids early with storybooks, media, and robot toys. They’re not coding or programming here, but getting familiar with the concept of what a robot is and sparking the questions of how they work.

Moving from toys to robot kits that include building or programming, we’re moving into elementary school age. Many of the robot kits suggest age ranges starting around 8 or 10 years.
The trick here is to not give a kid a “toy” that’s so complex that it frustrates them. (I’m repeatedly guilty of this; buying my kids cool toys that they’re not quite ready for.) They may let the kit collect dust for a bit until their technical knowledge and aptitude advances enough that they’re ready for what that particular robot has to offer.
